My name is Daniel Troyer, and we are a home-based camper rental company. I have done extensive traveling in campers for work over the years, and have lived several months at a time in them. So I have a great understanding of how they work. Since there is not a physical building, this allows us to keep our overhead very low. I have rented campers for the past three years on platforms such as RV Share, and Outdoorsy. It has gone well, so I decided to expand, and do it as a stand alone business. Since I have my own commercial rental insurance policy, this lets me keep the renter costs down. I don’t have to charge an additional fee for insurance, or a service fee that you will be charged by going through other platforms. Insurance alone is a savings of about $25 a night. I also try to keep fees to a minimum. I don’t charge for propane, or prep fees, or any of the other nickel and dime things that some charge. You may find a lower advertised price on another platform, but by the time you add all of their fees, service charge, and insurance, you will almost certainly pay more.
